k.d. lang Pinstripe Suit

This navy double-breasted suit with yellow pinstripes was worn by k.d. lang to the 1991 premiere party for Madonna’s film, Truth or Dare. At this point in her career, lang had already won two consecutive Grammy awards for her 1988 duet with Roy Orbison and her 1989 album, Absolute Torch and Twang. Her star was on the rise—exposing her to a different world, where casual encounters with celebrities were commonplace. lang hung out with Madonna again in 1992, after the release of her critically acclaimed album, Ingénue, where the queen of pop declared, “Elvis is alive, and she’s beautiful”.
