k.d. lang Blue Nudie Suit

Known popularly as a “Nudie Suit”, this elaborate, bedazzled outfit was created by Manuel Cuevas, who worked for famed musical clothing designer, Nudie Cohn.  The first to incorporate a liberal use of rhinestones into cowboy-inspired clothing, Cohn was notorious for his flamboyant embroidery and imagery. With a client list ranging from Hank Williams to Elvis Presley, these signature suits were a must-have for country singers. The blue outfit on display was worn by Alberta’s k.d. lang to the 1990 Grammy Awards in L.A., where she won “Best Female Country Vocal Performance” for her 1989 album, Absolute Torch and Twang.
