The National Music Centre (NMC) collection showcases Canada’s rich
musical heritage through an extensive array of artifacts, instruments, and
archival materials. It includes iconic pieces such as vintage guitars,
keyboards, and amplifiers, as well as interviews and memorabilia from
renowned artists. Spanning genres from Indigenous music to rock, country,
jazz, Francophone, pop, and more, the collection preserves and celebrates
the diversity of Canada’s musical history.

Forming the foundation of NMC’s exhibitions, the collection not only
highlights celebrated musicians but also underscores the cultural
significance of music in shaping Canada’s identity and inspiring artistic
innovation.

The National Music Centre gratefully acknowledges the support of the
Alberta Museums Association and the Government of Alberta through the
Operational Staffing Grant program. Funding provided through this program
supports NMC’s Collections and Research Coordinator position, helping ensure
the ongoing care, documentation, and accessibility of Canada’s musical
heritage.
