BiographyFramus musical instruments, produced during the company’s heyday in Bubenreuth, Bavaria, Germany, have been used both nationally and internationally by luminary artists such as Bill Wyman, Billy Lorento, John Lennon, Peter Kraus, and jazz guitarist Attila Zoller. The firm was originally founded in 1917 by Fred Wilfer in Schoenbach, Germany, a locale more famously known for the production of its orchestral string instruments. Manufacturing moved westward to Bavaria following the Second World War, and the company was officially named Framus, an acronym for the Franconian Musical Instruments Manufacture Fred Wilfer, on 1 January 1946. Following a period of bankruptcy throughout the 1980s, the Framus brand was reinstated in 1995.
