This fringed western-style outfit was worn by k.d. lang during the closing ceremonies for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, Alberta. Known for her energetic live shows, lang’s performance at McMahon Stadium was a turning point in her career. Singing “Turn Me Round” from her second album, Angel With a Lariat, she secured her status as a Canadian icon that night by transforming the whole stadium into a giant hoedown. The red winter jacket was given to her onstage by one of the Canadian athletes, and features the signatures of several athletes from the 1988 Olympic games.
