Artifact TypeGuitar, Acoustic
Date1930

This Hawaiian-style guitar was created by Greenfield Hawaiian Guitars, a company of cabinet-maker siblings, the Greenfield brothers, based in Edmonton, Alberta in the late 1920s and 1930s. Of the two models made by Greenfield, this is the second, called the ‘Hambone.’ The Hambone was made in two styles, the only major difference is the more intricate ‘purfling’ - decorative, inlaid edging -  of the second style. This guitar is the first style, and was made in February of 1930. The hollow, extended neck makes the entire instrument into a warm resonating chamber.
