Grammer Guitar

This 1971 Grammer acoustic guitar, with its eye-catching binding and inlays, was one of Grammer Guitar Inc’s high-end models. Founded as RG&G Musical Instruments Inc. in 1965, owners Clyde Reid, a music store operator, luthier J.W. Gower, and country musician Billy Grammer, sought to bring an excellent and affordable flat top guitar to the country and western market. Perfectly positioned in Nashville, Tennessee during the guitar boom of the 60s, Porter Wagner, Dolly Parton, Webb Pierce and Ernest Tubb were amongst musicians who owned Grammers during the time. The company was taken over by Ampeg Corporation in 1968 but continued producing Grammer guitars for several more years. The "M" in this model indicates that the back and sides were made of maple.
