Gordon Lightfoot Jacket

Though known mostly as an acoustic folk singer-songwriter preferring

Gibson and Martin acoustic guitars, electric guitars were used in Gordon

Lightfoot’s studio recordings. “Sundown” (1974), one of his most famous

tracks, features a distinct electric guitar solo and, interestingly, it and the

album of the same name marked the pinnacle of Lightfoot’s acoustic folk-

country sound before he embarked on greater use of electric instruments.

This solid-body, cream-coloured 1983 Fender Telecaster is therefore a piece

of the Canadian music legend’s later-era stage and studio equipment.
