Drum Workshop, Inc., which is commonly referred to simply as DW, was founded by Don Lombardi in Santa Monica, California in 1944. Its current headquarters are in Oxnard, California. The firm’s first product was an adjustable throne, with subsequent notable innovations emerging in the development of nylon single and double bass drum pedals. Drum Workshop has had many professional endorsements from varying artists over the decades, including Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee, who provided the firm’s first endorsement, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Rush’s Neil Peart, Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood, and The Eagles’ Don Henley. The cymbals of this unit were manufactured by Sabian. Sabian was founded in 1981 by Robert Zildjian in Meductic, New Brunswick, Canada. Zildjian is the son of Avedis Zildjian, founder of the prominent Zildjian manufacturer of cymbals.
