Dominique Roy Interview

Dominique Roy is a musician, sound engineer and radio producer based in Edmonton, Alberta. A Franco-Albertan, Roy grew up singing French folk songs at home, and developed his musical skills as a trumpet player for his school concert band. In his role as a radio producer for CBC/Radio-Canada, Roy has participated in initiatives such as the Gala Provincial de la Chanson Francophone, later re-named the Gala Albertain de la Chanson. Started in 1989, the annual songwriting competition aimed to seek out and promote French talent in Alberta. Now known as Polyphonik, the competition celebrated its 30th year in 2019. Currently, Roy is a producer and technical director for radio shows such as La croisée and La place podcast series. He has also served as Vice-President of the Edmonton Jazz Society since 2016.
