Jason Valleau Interview

Jason Valleau is fixture on Calgary’s music scene. A trained multi-instrumentalist, Valleau grew up in a musical family and specializes in a wide range of genres, including country, swing, jazz or folk. In 2006, he organized Carstairs’ first Mountain View Music Festival, which ran until 2015. Along with his brother Sheldon, Valleau has performed all over the world with his band the Polyjesters, most recently as part of the 2019 Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show. Behind the scenes, Valleau has sat on the board of the Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta and the Premier’s Council on Culture. He previously worked on the programming team at the National Music Centre, and now works part-time for Jazz YYC. Valleau currently tours and records with Calgary country group the Blake Reid Band and was featured in the band’s award-winning 2017 documentary No Roads In.
