Floyd Sillito Interview
Floyd Sillito has been playing traditional country music for over 50 years. Born in Fort MacLeod, Alberta, he grew up listening to the Old Timers Dance Band on Calgary’s CFCN radio before joining the weekly show as a band member and vocalist in the 1950s. A touring musician for much of the ‘50s and ‘60s, Sillito achieved great popularity in Ontario with his bands the Country Cousins, Perth County Playboys and the Drylanders. After returning to Alberta with his family in 1969, Floyd continued to perform and record solo and with his western trio Country Fare. Known today as a local favourite, Sillito continues to play regular gigs around Lethbridge senior centres and public libraries.
