Billie Dunn Interview
Billie Dunn comes from a long line of musicians and performers, and grew up singing country music with her family in Edmonton, Alberta. Both her parents were musicians, and her father Bill Dunn played in a local band called the Saddle Tramps. From her first public performance at three years old, Billie Dunn traveled all over Northern Alberta playing gigs with her family. She appeared regularly on CFRN radio’s Canadian Western Opry show singing backup vocals for her father’s band, and she got further radio play in high school when she recorded a cover of Del Shannon’s 1961 hit "Runaway". In the 1970s, Dunn made the transition to television, and appeared regularly as a backup singer or soloist on The Tommy Banks Show.
